Alice Springs Women’s Shelter (ASWS) provides a range of support for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. The services include emergency accommodation, outreach support, court support and counselling.
These services are confidential and aim to provide a supportive environment to enable women to explore options of how to keep themselves, and their children safe. We work closely with women to achieve the goals they have identified as priorities whilst maintaining a focus on safety.
The primary objective of all the services Alice Springs Women’s Shelter offers, is to keep women and children safe from domestic and family violence and to facilitate ways in which they are able to access support and information in order to make informed decisions about their safety and well-being.
Across the service, staff act as advocates for women and children while they are engaged with other support services, to negotiate the best ways in which to ensure women live free from domestic violence, with dignity and respect.
