Outreach

The outreach program provides support to any woman in Alice Springs who is experiencing problems in her relationship that are making her feel unsafe.

The team can provide a wide range of supports depending on the individual situation. This can range from a simple cup of tea and a chat through to supporting women through major changes and helping them maintain their and their childrens safety.

The service has a discrete office in town or workers can met women at a mutually agreed location.

Workers will talk with clients about ways to maximize their safety, provide information about what other services are available and support them to access those services. The worker can support women through possibly difficult processes such as court dates.

At different stages of difficult relationships the type and intensity of support a women may require may change. The service can have daily contact with women who are at significant risk or less intensive support depending on a woman's individual situation.

The program has been funded by the Alice Springs Transformation Plan and is aimed at providing an early intervention model, hopefully preventing women and children from accessing emergency accommodation services.

Also as part of the program the team delivers a range of early intervention activities such as child safety programs and participating in the Love Bites program in partnership with NAAPCAN.

The service can also offer practical supports such as funding to get locks changed or support with relocation.
