Stronger Safer Together

Safer, Stronger Together is part of an ongoing campaign developed in partnership by Sisters and Brothers NT & Alice Springs Women’s Shelter. Sisters and Brothers NT is a newly formed advocacy and reconciliation group for Sistergirls and Brotherboys, Indigenous and Non- Indigenous Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender and Inter-sex (GLBTI) people from the Northern Territory.

PrintThe campaign aims to positively promote gender diversity and ensuring people of diverse gender, sex and sexuality are able to safely access support services. The project was initiated after changes to the Federal Anti-Discrimination Act in 2013 which outlawed discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and intersex status.

Taking leadership from Sisters and Brothers NT, the Alice Springs Women’s Shelter is committed to creating a service that is inclusive of sexually and gender diverse people. We look forward to continuing this partnership.

Northern Territory Aids & Hepatitis Council will join the campaign later in the 2014.

This poster features some of the members of this community who have shared their stories of strength and resilience which will be used to create further resources and inform ASWS and sector policy. The posters and postcards will be distributed across Central Australia – you can request some here.
