Our Approach
The work of the ASWS is underpinned by the following values:
- All women and children have a right to physical, sexual, psychological, emotional and spiritual safety and well-being
- We acknowledge the uniqueness of each woman and we work beside women to meet their chosen goals
- We exemplify non-violent principles in all our work, and ensure that our interactions are based on mutual respect and understanding
- We advocate for, and work towards, human rights and equality for all women and their children
- We value our staff and are committed to growing and developing them as people and rewarding them for their work
- Our practice across the organisation is informed by evidence
- We endorse the values and principles of the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children (2011).
We express these values in our day to day practise with a strong client directed focus. That is we work closely with women to achieve the goals they have identified as priorities for them whislt maintaining a focus on safety.
