Our Approach

The work of the ASWS is underpinned by the following values:

  1. All women and children have a right to physical, sexual, psychological, emotional and spiritual safety and well-being
  2. We acknowledge the uniqueness of each woman and we work beside women to meet their chosen goals
  3. We exemplify non-violent principles in all our work, and ensure that our interactions are based on mutual respect and understanding
  4. We advocate for, and work towards, human rights and equality for all women and their children
  5. We value our staff and are committed to growing and developing them as people and rewarding them for their work
  6. Our practice across the organisation is informed by evidence
  7. We endorse the values and principles of the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children (2011).

We express these values in our day to day practise with a strong client directed focus. That is we work closely with women to achieve the goals they have identified as priorities for them whislt maintaining a focus on safety.
